Ren was the first person he met and touched that wasn't his Grandpa. That meeting set off a series of events that led Seto into meeting all of his friends and coming face to face with Shin in a battle save both Ren and the remaining pieces of humanity. From then on they traveled together in search of more survivors.
Seto's relationship with Ren is both very simple and complicated: two children trying to find comfort with each other to the point that borders on co-dependent. But Seto is determined to make sure Ren is happy in LifeAftr and back home if they ever return. However unbeknownst to Seto, Ren is hiding one important secret from him: She's dying.

Although they initially got off on the wrong foot due to Crow stealing Seto's pendant, the other boy became two firsts for him: Seto's first best friend and - hilariously - Seto's first kiss. Crow is a loyal friend and Seto was devastated when he passed away in their world.
Much like Ren, Seto is determined to help Crow be happy in LifeAftr as he's no longer around in their world. And now since Crow has a birthday too, he's going to do his best to make it a good one.

A being that Seto met on the floating islands, in a small copy of their world. The Drifter is an interesting person with skin that's the same color of the sky. They don't speak and instead talk with a device that reminds Seto of a fairy or with their hands. Later on Seto learned the Drifter found and learned both things because their voice died at some point. Seto also finds their determination to keep going regardless both admirable and frightening in turn, the latter more due to the boy's own complicated feelings regarding death. The Drifter has agreed to teach Seto sign language.
They're louder then they think they are or at least Seto thinks so.
